Dr. Yasemin Bayyurt graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of Foreign Language Education in 1989. She completed her MA and PhD at Lancaster University in England, specializing on discourse analysis and pragmatics. Dr. Bayyurt has been teaching at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Boğaziçi University, since 1996. She has international publications and continues to do further work on classroom discourse analysis (with special emphasis on gender differences in language use both in L1 and L2); content based instruction and language testing for young learners; cross-cultural communication and language learning; and the analysis of current status of English as an International Language from non-native speaker teachers’ perspective.
